10 Times Other Broadcast Networks Tried To Beat “The Simpsons” But Failed Miserably

Together with Home Movies, Dilbert was the now defunct UPN’s attempt at getting a chunk of the animated comedy boom that showed up in the late 90’s. The Emmy-winning series was the network’s best weapon at taking a chunk of the “working class man” demographic that The Simpsons still keeps to this day and maybe upscale it a bit towards the growing dot-com working class. That didn’t happen, despite a pretty excellent cast that included Daniel Stern, Jason Alexander, and Chris Elliott and instead, the show was canned after only two seasons.
